The Atlantic: The Life of a Lumberjack.

I had a good friend, freshman year of college, who went home for the holidays to work at the local lumber business (he, like myself, was trying to pay his way through college). Loading a flatbed, one of the vertical supports broke, and the entire load flattened him. Took me a very long time to get over that. Little did I know two years in the future, I'd have all my fingers smashed/broken in a similar accident with a flatbed semi.

I cannot play guitar like I used to, but I can type the fingers off most.
