Aeon: The human world is not more fragile now: it always has been.

The end of the world is a growth industry.

I hate the fact that children have to grow up in a culture that gets more juiced over dystopian futures than utopian ones. Our 'moving toward' goals are so messed up. It wasn't this way in the '60's and '70's. Again, falling back on my generation, does anyone else recall the unbridled optimism that was part and parcel of the 'youthful' Kennedy Administration? Not as adults saw it, but as we schoolchildren did?
