"The special effects people tried to build a track which we were gonna put the creature on and it would run around and stop at various places on the table, but we were not getting anywhere nearer to what we wanted to do,” he continues. “So I said to Jim, ‘Remember when kids would play with those little wind-up things that would scuttle around? That could work!’ So we tracked down a little toy shop and I stuck on some black feathers and suddenly we had our creature."
