Ever hear of PTZs?

PTZ means “Pan, Tilt, Zoom” cameras. Robotic cameras controlled with a joystick. I’m going to be very busy next week with operating a duo or trio of these little beasts (all 4K), and I need to get my muscle-memory moves rehearsed so I can respond to many varied zoom/focus combos.

This is going to be a significant challenge, because the event is tres important. I feel the stress of performing to perfection, but accept that such a high bar is not really possible. It’s not physical, it’s all reflex. A question of spending enough time with the joysticks, and a strict set of procedures (off one closeup, return to wide shot, move second camera to closeup, repeat ad infinitum).

In one light, you could call me a trained tech monkey. But on the other hand, I like to look at my ability to learn new skills and how well my brain responds to such practices. It’s going to be intense concentration. I’m wondering what I can do to ‘exercise’ my mind to be tuned for this function.
