Guardian.UK: Reel dilemma - are we condoning the conduct of Hollywood's tyrants by watching their films?

"It’s critical to remember that when we watch a film, view art or read a book, we’re doing so to be entertained and enriched,” she says. “We’re not doing it to issue an endorsement of the human being whose work it is."

We have to make moral judgments in order to remain moral beings. Would you actually put a human-skin lampshade ('artwork') in your living room, knowing the Third Reich created it?  I doubt I'll ever be able to watch "Last Tango" because of the rape scene. As you don't actually murder people to create realistic violence, neither should you rape someone for realistic rage and humiliation. You're not representing anything - you're bloody committing it. Pathological. Line drawn.
